ISLAMIC CURRICULUM

The Islamic Curricular at the Middelburg Muslim School has been designed with the object of equipping the learner with overall knowledge and practice as required by Islam. Such learning enables learners to practice the Deen from a young age and they are provided with the necessary Islamic instruction as they move up the academic ladder, from Grades R to 12. The syllabi of Jamiatul Ulema – the Tas’heel series is used. Hopefully, they will be able to confidently practise the Deen upon graduating and also guide and mentor fellow Muslims in this ‘WAY OF LIFE’. A special emphasis is laid on character development and general Tarbiyyah (nurturing).

CURRICULAR OVERVIEW

  1. Recitation with emphasis on Tajweed rules.
  2. Basic meaning and message of Quraan at learners’ levels.
  3. Memorization of Surahs.
  4. A dedicated program on Quraan Translation in the FET phase (grades 11 and 12)

Laws pertaining to purity, Ibadah (worship), and dealings, in addition to a dedicated program on Practicals in all pertinent areas. Relevant Duas pertaining to Ibadah as well as the Sunnah Duas for relevant occasions.

Beliefs based on the 7 articles of Faith and related matters, as well as highlighting deviated sects

Islamic History, from Seerah to the Khulafa and subsequent Islamic Dynasties, including current political issues affecting Muslims internationally

Programmes on current challenges as well as awareness programmes on an ongoing basis, which are integrated into the lesson as well as taught independently as a subject
